TP-Link Omada vs Deco: Business Wi-Fi or Home Mesh?

TP-Link makes two families for whole-building Wi-Fi: Deco mesh systems for homes and Omada access points and switches for businesses. Both fix dead zones, but they are built for different jobs.

Deco: whole-home mesh made simple

  • A set of matching units spreads Wi-Fi evenly through your home.
  • Set up in minutes with the Deco app. No networking knowledge needed.
  • Units can connect to each other wirelessly, so you do not need to run cables.
  • Best for houses, condos and small home offices.

Example: TP-Link Deco M4 AC1200 3-Pack ($175.32).

Omada: business Wi-Fi you can grow

  • Ceiling, wall and outdoor access points connected by Ethernet cable.
  • Usually powered by a PoE switch, so there is one cable to each access point.
  • Manage access points, switches and routers together in the Omada app or controller: guest networks, VLANs, usage reports and remote management.
  • Best for offices, stores, clinics, restaurants, schools and large multi-floor homes.
