The case for genuine Brother TN760
- Most consistent results. Made by Brother for these exact printers.
- Toner alerts work exactly as designed. The printer's page counter and "toner low" messages behave as Brother intended.
- Peace of mind for important documents, contracts and anything client-facing.
The case for compatible CTTN760
- About a third cheaper per page. 2.6¢ vs 3.9¢ adds up fast in a busy office.
- Same 3,000-page yield, so you are not trading page count for price.
- Good fit for high-volume everyday printing: invoices, shipping labels, internal reports and school work.
What does the saving look like?
An office printing 1,000 pages a month uses about four TN760 cartridges a year.
- Genuine: 4 × $116.21 = about $465 a year
- Compatible: 4 × $79.00 = about $316 a year
That is roughly $150 a year saved by switching to compatible toner.
Our recommendation
If you print a lot of everyday documents, the compatible CTTN760 is the smart way to cut costs. If you print less, or you want the most consistent results for important documents, stay with the genuine Brother TN760. Many customers keep one of each: compatible for daily printing and a genuine cartridge as a spare.
Don't forget the drum
Brother TN760 printers use a separate drum unit (DR730). Toner clicks into the drum. You only replace the drum when the printer shows a drum message or prints become streaky, usually after several toner cartridges.
How to install TN760 toner
- Open the front cover and slide out the drum and toner assembly.
- Push down the green lever and lift out the old toner cartridge.
- Gently shake the new cartridge side to side to spread the toner, then remove the protective cover.
- Click the new cartridge into the drum until the green lever lifts.
- Slide the assembly back in and close the cover.
